AIcohol Ink is a free-flowing art medium with vivid stained-glass-like colors.

Alcohol Ink Landscape


Two 4-week courses will be offered on Thursdays during the Winter Semester of 2019

Introduction to Alcohol Ink Classes will on February 7, 14, 21 and 28, 2019 from 12:30 - 2:30 pm.

Intermediate Alcohol Ink Classes will be held on March 7, 14, 21 and 28, 2019 from 12:30 - 2:30 pm.

Alcohol Ink Paint Along Classes will be held on April 4 and 11, 2019 from 12:30 - 2:30 pm..


Introduction to Alcohol Ink Course Overview


Week One - Introductions; Basic Color Theory, Handling the Yupo Paper, Drips and Drops with Zentangle

Week Two - Tools to Create Texture, Creating a Background Wash, Blending Solution, Abstracts

Week Three - Abstracts & Landscapes

Week Four - Representational Painting & Blooms

Materials Fee: $30 payable to the instructor on the first day of class.


Materials included in your $30 fee:

  • Yupo 74 lb. weight paper - 6 sheets (5" x 7")
  • Yupo 74 lb. weight paper - 2 sheets (11" x 14")
  • 5 Tim Holtz Adirondack Alcohol Inks plus Snowcap

  • Copic markers for adding fine details

  • Q-Tips (cosmetic Q-tips are best)
  • Cosmetic sponges
  • Paper towels for creating texture
  • Saran Wrap or Wax Paper
  • Old credit cards or used gift cards
  • Drinking straws
  • Coffee stirrers
  • Old toothbrushes
  • Small paint brushes
  • Black extra fine tip water-based Sharpies

Intermediate Class in Alcohol Ink Course Overview

This is a BRAND NEW Intermediate class that will focus on new color palettes, abstract and representational art, including birch treesw and mountains and seascapes. Students will work with metal discs, Claybord and other substrates of their choice (metal, glass, plexiglass, etc.)

NOTE: If you were in my most recent Intermediate Class that created Birch Tree paintings, you've completed this class. All others are welcome to learn new techniques.


Week One - Introductions; Review of Alcohol Ink Techniques, Creating Birch Trees with Washi Tape

Week Two - Creating an Abstract on Metal Discs, Making an LED Lamp with AI and Paper Towels

Week Three - Creating Landscapes; working on Claybord and other non-porous materials

Week Four - Representational Painting, Mono-Prints & Drip Pad Fun

Materials Fee: $12 payable to the instructor on the first day of class.
